Ο τυχοδιώκτης Βασίλης Μαυρίδης δέχεται μια αλλόκοτη πρόταση: να πάρει τη θέση ενός άντρα που υποτίθεται ότι νοσηλεύεται σε κάποια νευρολογική κλινική της Ελβετίας και με τον οποίο μοιάζει εκπληκτικά! Ο Μαυρίδης υποπτεύεται ότι ο άνθρωπος αυτός μπορεί να έχει δολοφονηθεί. Στη βίλα που εγκαθίσταται, ζει η όμορφη και μυστηριώδης γυναίκα του σωσία του, η Ντόρα, για την οποία αρχίζει να νιώθει ακατανίκητη έλξη. Σύντομα διαπιστώνει ότι η έλξη αυτή είναι αμοιβαία. Η Ντόρα όμως βρίσκεται μετά από λίγο στραγγαλισμένη! Όταν ο αστυνόμος Μπέκας εμφανίζεται για να διαλευκάνει το έγκλημα, τα πράγματα περιπλέκονται οδυνηρά για τον Μαυρίδη...
