도쿄의 작은 동네에 위치한 오랜 전통을 자랑하는 요식업 "잇쇼안"을 배경으로, 시간에 쫓기는 현대인들이 잊고 있던 소중한 것에 대해 깨닫게 되는 '음식의 인간적 이야기' 를 다룬 드라마이다. 이야기의 주인공은 "잇쇼안"의 여주인인 한다 센이다. 젊은 나이에 가게를 운영하는 그녀는 보통은 맛있는 것을 좋아하고 술을 즐기며 낙천적인 성격이다. 하지만 사실은 타고난 재능과 '진심'이 담긴 음식과 서비스로 가게를 운영하고 있다. 그런 가게에 젊은 요리사 에자키 요시오가 나타나면서 이야기가 시작된다. 요시오는 "잇쇼안"의 방식을 이해할 수 없다. 한눈에 보기에 비효율적일 수 있는 "잇쇼안"의 방식이다. 하지만 망가져 가는 것 속에도 소중한 것이 있다는 것을... 주인공 한다 센은 그것을 진심으로 보여준다.
