Für viele ist neben Hollywood Las Vegas Ausdruck des amerikanischen Sündenbabels. Aber ausgerechnet hierhin verschlägt es die junge Mormonin Rachel (Julia Garner). Die strenggläubige 15-jährige ist schwanger und glaubt durch das heimliche Hören eines Rocksongs unbefleckt empfangen zu haben. Ihre Eltern wollen sie nun zwangsverheiraten. Also flieht Rachel aus der behüteten Gemeinde nach Las Vegas, um hier den Sänger des Songs (‘Hanging on the Telephone’) ausfindig zu machen. Mit ihrer engelsgleichen Gestalt und der an diesem Ort so fremden Naivität macht sie großen Eindruck. In einigen jugendlichen Punkrockern und Grunge-Abhängern (u.a. Rory Culkin) findet sie unerwartete Hilfe auf ihrer Mission, die eine fundamentale Überraschung bereithält.
