YIP Hoi told MA Hung Kwan that someone was going to kill him. Having known the situation, MA requested YIP to take care of his daughter in case he died but YIP declined to be committed. Madam SUM Sam met YIP and asked him whether he would be prepared to marry Miss MA Fong Ling. YIP said that he did not love her. Madam SUM then suggested paying YIP 5,000 teals in return for his promise to take Miss MA away from the City of Bin. This was also refused by YIP.
